Giant Balls, of Ice
I already twittered this a couple days ago, but I thought the pic was cool enough to add. I've never heard a storm as loud as the noise when my house was being pelted for a few minutes.

The roundish one was an actual softball (which was already out there -- not added for scale).

State of Emergency in Arizona?

I marveled at how people couldn't handle driving in the rain in Tucson. Especially during the monoon season.

I've heard of rare cases where water-based creatures like fish or frogs have fallen from the sky during rainstorms , so I guess balls from a local golf course water hazard isn't too much of a stretch.

Flew back home to Phoenix that day. Pilot in Charlotte, NC held our plane on the runway for almost two hours, citing hailstorms in Phoenix as the reason. I was convinced he was drunk.
